[Remote] Full Stack Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. RecovryAI is developing innovative FDA-regulated clinical AI to assist patients in their post-operative recovery. The Full Stack Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end feature development across web and mobile applications, while also shaping the technical direction as the company scales.
Responsibilities
- Ship features end-to-end across our web apps, mobile app, and backend services
- Shape the architecture and tooling decisions for our greenfield web applications
- Design and build LLM-powered features and long-running agentic workflows that drive our Virtual Care Assistants - durable execution, clinician-in-the-loop review, recovery from failures and restarts
- Model and evolve clinical and operational data; design the APIs and contracts that connect mobile, web, and backend
- Evolve our cloud infrastructure as we scale toward De Novo authorization and commercial launch
- Contribute to engineering documentation appropriate for an FDA-regulated SaMD
- Translate clinical, regulatory, and product requirements into shippable software
- Participate in code reviews and help shape technical direction across the team
Skills
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong full-stack TypeScript - backend and frontend, in production
- Production experience with Node and TypeScript, building HTTP APIs (REST, tRPC, oRPC, or similar)
- Production experience with modern, server-first React - React Server Components, server-side data loading, suspense, streaming, and progressive enhancement. The pattern matters more than the specific framework; we're not building SPAs
- Production experience building LLM-powered features (prompt design, structured generation, retrieval, evaluations)
- Solid SQL fundamentals and hands-on experience with Postgres (or a comparable relational database)
- AWS experience, including infrastructure-as-code (CDK preferred) and container-based deployments
- Comfortable with Git/GitHub workflows and CI/CD
- Strong written communication - especially important in remote, regulated work
- Experience designing or operating agentic systems in production - tool use, multi-step reasoning, durable orchestration
- Experience with LLM evaluations and observability - eval harnesses, regression suites, tracing, golden datasets
- Experience with AWS Bedrock - or transferable experience with other LLM platforms and TypeScript LLM tooling (Vercel AI SDK, Anthropic/OpenAI SDKs, Mastra, LangChain, etc.)
- React Native + Expo production experience
- Temporal or a comparable workflow engine (Step Functions, Airflow, Cadence)
- Experience with Zod or a similar Node schema library (Valibot, Yup, ArkType, io-ts)
- Monorepo experience (Turborepo, Nx, pnpm/yarn workspaces, or similar)
- Cognito or another OIDC/identity provider in production
- Experience shipping in a regulated environment (FDA SaMD, HIPAA, SOC 2)
- Familiarity with healthcare data, clinical workflows, or medical devices
- Demonstrated proficiency with AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.) - we use these heavily and expect engineers to as well
- Startup experience and comfort with ambiguity
Benefits
- Direct work on a Breakthrough-designated medical device that affects patient outcomes
- Early collaboration with experienced technical, clinical, and regulatory leadership
- A path to grow into technical leadership as the team scales
- Competitive compensation including early-stage equity
- Health, dental, and vision benefits
- Fully remote with flexible hours
