[Remote] Field Service Representative
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Hitachi Energy is a leading company in the power sector, seeking a Field Service Representative to support high-voltage equipment across utility and industrial substations. The role involves installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical assets to ensure the grid's reliability and safety.
Responsibilities
- Execute installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair activities on high-voltage substation equipment—either Generator Circuit Breaker or Air-Insulated Switchgear (or similar)—in the field and at customer sites
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical/mechanical failures; implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid repeat issues
- Perform electrical testing/diagnostics and support outage & construction activities in substations
- Lead field service projects and direct on-site crews; provide technical direction and clear status/reporting
- Deliver services both on-site and remotely as needed to meet customer SLAs
- Engage with customers to anticipate needs and surface service or modernization opportunities that drive uptime and performance
- Recommend product/process improvements by feeding structured field insights to engineering and service teams
- Document work thoroughly, including test results, as-found/as-left conditions, and safety checks
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines
Skills
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
- 2-5 years of proven experience in technical field service work
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude; able to diagnose and resolve issues with minimal assistance
- Hands-on experience with substation construction, electrical testing, and high-voltage apparatus (either technology); exposure up to 800 kV is a plus
- Demonstrated leadership coordinating/leading field crews and contractors
- Proficiency with MS Office and test-equipment software; valid U.S. driver's license; willingness to travel extensively (up to ~80%) across North America (U.S., Canada, Mexico)
- Technical diploma/degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) preferred. Trade education and experience in Industrial Mechanic and Electrical fields will be considered
