[Remote] Senior Backend Engineer - Recommender Systems

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Hampton North is partnering with a high-growth, product-led consumer platform building a highly curated, data-driven experience at scale. They’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design and scale the backend systems that power personalization and recommendation features used by millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Designing and building scalable backend systems that power ranking, recommendation, and personalization features
• Owning the infrastructure and services that support ML models in production (serving, data pipelines, real-time systems)
• Partnering closely with ML engineers and data scientists to productionize models and improve system performance
• Building and optimizing high-throughput, low-latency services that directly impact user experience
• Driving architectural decisions across distributed systems and backend services
• Improving reliability, scalability, and observability across core systems

Skills

• Must have experience supporting and scaling recommendation systems, ranking systems, or personalization platforms
• 5+ years of backend or distributed systems engineering experience
• Proficiency in backend languages in Golang
• Strong experience building and scaling high-performance systems in production environments
• Experience working closely with ML teams (e.g. deploying models, building data pipelines, or supporting ML infrastructure)
• Experience with distributed systems, APIs, and large-scale data processing
• Strong system design and architecture skills
