[Remote] Research Scientist III \- Data Analyst
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Sugino Corp. is seeking a Research Scientist III - Data Analyst to join UL Research Institutes, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing safety science. The role involves analyzing data, developing models related to fire safety, and preparing reports and visualizations to support research initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Identifies fundamental knowledge needed to enhance UL Research Institutes’ thought leadership and support the strategy of UL Research Institutes
- Applies intensive and diverse knowledge of engineering technology and systems engineering concepts to the specific research tasks. Exercises a high degree of judgment in formulating, evaluating, and correlating broad engineering research concepts and guiding the analysis of unique problems and developing new and improved techniques and methods
- Contribute to the development of reusable data products and standardized data models across research domains
- Analyzes emergency response data to determine trends and develop solutions
- Stays ahead of changing technologies, in the field by reading journals and scientific publications, and attending academic conferences
- Plan, design, and complete initial and follow-up tests as needed to validate results
- Work with students and teams
- Present research results internally or externally as needed
- Perform other duties as directed
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field plus 8 or more years of directly related work experience
- Master's degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field plus 4 or more years of directly related work experience
- PhD in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field or equivalent experience plus 2 or more years of directly related work experience
- Expertise in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and hypothesis testing
- Experience designing interactive dashboards, reports, and executive-level presentations
- Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and modern data analysis libraries
- Excellent communication skills required
- Demonstrated experience with cloud-based data platforms and analytics environments (AWS, Snowflake, Dash)
- Ability to collaborate with peers and work directly with Research Scientists and other team members in order to complete a project from start to finish
- Ability to serve as lead author on reports and papers
