[Remote] VMware Platform Engineer

They are seeking a VMware Platform Engineer to design, deploy, and operate VMware-based virtualization and storage platforms across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments, focusing on automation and capacity management.
Responsibilities
- Design and operate VMware vSphere, vSAN, and NSX environments across data centers and hybrid cloud deployments
- Build and maintain Tanzu Kubernetes Grid environments for containerized workloads
- Implement vRealize / Aria Automation for self-service VM provisioning, lifecycle management, and policy enforcement
- Operate NSX-T for software-defined networking, including micro-segmentation and load balancing
- Manage vSAN clusters, storage policies, and storage performance for diverse workload classes
- Implement disaster recovery and business continuity using Site Recovery Manager and replication
- Build automation for VMware infrastructure using PowerCLI, Terraform, Ansible, and vRO
- Design capacity management strategies including right-sizing, reservation, and workload placement
- Operate VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) deployments where applicable, applying lifecycle management, workload domain design, and integration patterns appropriate to the broader hybrid cloud strategy
- Implement and operate VMware integrations with cloud providers (VMware Cloud on AWS, AVS, GCVE)
- Build observability for VMware infrastructure including performance, capacity, and compliance
- Lead VMware upgrades, lifecycle management cycles, and security patching across the virtualization estate, planning carefully sequenced rollouts that minimize disruption to dependent workloads
- Troubleshoot complex VMware issues spanning compute, network, and storage layers
- Stay current with VMware product evolution following the Broadcom transition
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Five or more years of hands-on VMware platform engineering experience
- Deep expertise in vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi
- Hands-on experience with vSAN and storage policy management
- Experience with NSX-T or NSX-V networking
- Strong PowerCLI scripting skills and experience with automation tooling
- Familiarity with Tanzu Kubernetes Grid or VMware container platforms
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery patterns and SRM
- Strong troubleshooting skills across compute, network, and storage layers
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VCAP credentials
- Experience with VMware Cloud on AWS, AVS, or GCVE
- Familiarity with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
- Experience with Aria Operations / vRealize Operations
- Exposure to migration programs out of VMware to alternative virtualization platforms
