Associate Geologist

WSP is a global leader in environmental consulting with expertise in ESG, climate resiliency, and earth sciences. They are seeking an Associate Geologist to join their Pacific Northwest Site Investigation & Remediation Team, where the role involves working on multi-disciplinary environmental projects and providing consulting services to clients.


Responsibilities

  • Help solve problems and document solutions, express ideas through strong technical writing and verbal communication, and support technical reports, plans, and calculations in a consulting environment
  • Work on a variety of multi-disciplinary projects, with substantial emphasis on soil, soil vapor/gas, groundwater, surface water, and stormwater investigations and remediation systems; chemical fate and transport assessment; hazardous waste management; permitting; and site planning
  • Be a member of teams providing environmental consulting services to commercial and government clients
  • Perform technical tasks under oversight of more experienced technical reviewers/directors as appropriate
  • Possess knowledge and technical skills in Federal, Oregon and Washington regulations
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Perform Additional Responsibilities As Required By Business Needs

Skills

  • B.S. or higher in Geology, Hydrogeology, or related discipline
  • Minimum 1 Or More Years Post-education Environmental Consulting Experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Consistent and highly accurate project work
  • Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills
  • Comfortable working within both small and large project teams to achieve objectives
  • Ability to work in industrial and field environments as well as in the office
  • Flexible to work outside of business hours, when necessary
  • Proficiency with MS Office: Excel, Word, and Outlook, in particular
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
  • Ability to travel based on project-specific requirements
  • Professional registration in Oregon or Washington (preferably both) if a Geologist/Hydrogeologist
  • Master's Degree is preferred
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired
