[Remote] Site Reliabiliy Engineer (m/f/d)

VisioLab is an AI-powered self-checkout company for various venues, and they are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to enhance their infrastructure reliability and lead security and compliance efforts. The role involves owning production system reliability, improving incident response, and driving compliance initiatives like SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
Responsibilities
- Own the reliability, scalability, and observability of our production systems (GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform)
- Improve incident response and on-call practices (we use sentry, crashlytics, incident.io)
- Strengthen CI/CD pipelines and deployment safety
- Partner with backend engineers on system design and operational readiness
- Lead SOC 2 and ISO 27001 efforts end-to-end, from gap analysis to audit readiness
- Define and enforce policies around access control, secrets management, encryption, logging, and data protection
- Build the practices, controls, and evidence collection that keep us compliant without slowing teams down
- Act as the point of contact for auditors and align infrastructure with compliance requirements
- Work closely with leadership to embed security into how we build
- Drive a transformation in how the team thinks about reliability, security, and compliance
- Bring engineers along through clear communication, not mandates
- Coach, advocate, and shape culture across the organization
Skills
- Hands-on experience leading at least one SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification from preparation to successful audit
- Solid SRE background: production systems on GCP (or comparable), Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD
- Strong grasp of security best practices in cloud environments (IAM, secrets, encryption, logging)
- Experience working with auditors and translating their requirements into engineering work
- Excellent written and verbal communication, you can explain why in a way people remember
- Proven ability to drive change across an engineering team without formal authority
- Comfortable challenging the status quo and bringing others along
- Ownership-first approach: you see what needs to happen and you make it happen
- Calm and clear under pressure, especially during incidents and audits
- Pragmatic, you know when to push for the gold standard and when good enough is good enough
