[Remote] Mechanical Design Engineer (Hot Gas Path)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Insight Global is looking for a Hot Gas Path Engineer (Analysis focus) to join their team based out of Greenville, SC. The hot gas path engineer will be responsible for building 2D and 3D finite element models of turbine components, running various analyses, and supporting root cause analysis work.
Responsibilities
- Building 2D and 3D finite element models of turbine components
- Running thermal, structural, modal or forced response analysis with thermal and mechanical loads
- Lifing (LCF, HCF, creep, oxidation, fracture mechanics)
- Postprocessing of modal results (frequency/Campbell diagram creation)
- Presenting in Design Reviews
- Working in PowerPoint and reviewing 2D & 3D models
- Supporting root cause analysis (RCA) work
Skills
- At least 2 years of engineering design experience in gas turbine engines
- Bachelors of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or other relevant engineering discipline
- Prior experience supporting or leading root cause analyses (RCA)
- Ansys Classic/mechanical design experience (2+ years)
- UG/NX experience (2+ years)
- Knowledge of GD&T standards, and how to interpret engineering drawings, perform stackups, etc
- Experience using PLM or Teamcenter configuration management tools
- Emphasis on ANSYS classic is preferred as this is the key tool that will be used
