[Remote] Senior Energy Consultant -- Renewable Engineering Experience
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Sargent & Lundy is one of the largest and most experienced power industry engineering and consulting firms. They are seeking a Senior Energy Consultant with renewable engineering experience to provide technical consulting and advisory services for utility-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects, as well as independent engineering and due diligence services for lenders and investors.
Responsibilities
- Technical consulting and advisory services to power project developers to support new utility-scale solar, wind, gas, battery energy storage, and other projects
- Independent engineering and due diligence services for lenders and investors to evaluate the financing of new power and infrastructure projects
- Technical, economic, and market studies for grid operators, utilities, and research agencies; and
- Planning studies and business case development for utilities, independent power producers, and government agencies
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering (other engineering disciplines may be considered)
- 10 or more years of experience in the power industry, including one or more of the following: Design of utility-scale solar, wind, and/or battery energy storage projects; Independent engineering and due diligence services for power projects; Power project development; Solar, wind, and/or battery energy storage construction management
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Experience writing technical reports and proposals
- Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others
- Project planning and leadership skills
- A Master's degree in an engineering discipline or business (e.g., MBA) is a plus
- Experience in project finance or financial modeling of power projects is a plus
- Experience with owner's engineering activities during power project execution is a plus
- Overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs, is valued but not required
- Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows
