[Remote] Software Development Engineer II, Guidance

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Mapbox is the leading real-time location platform for location-aware businesses, providing tools for navigation of people, packages, and vehicles. The Software Development Engineer II will design, develop, and operate significant areas of Mapbox's Guidance services, focusing on creating customizable and innovative guidance experiences.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex guidance scenarios that don’t have good solutions today
• Develop best-in-class guidance experiences that make guidance enjoyable, not robotic
• Provide highly customizable guidance solutions for large OEMs as well as very niche customers with unique use cases
• Build the tools others will use to unlock incredible mapping and navigation solutions never seen before

Skills

• 5+ years of experience building scalable high volume low latency backend services
• Experience engineering modern C++ or Rust and Linux server applications in a commercial or open-source development environment
• Builds and maintains AWS cloud infrastructure (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM) using infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines
• Knowledge of operating systems and distributed systems (e.g., fault-tolerance, consistency, service discovery, etc.)
• A rigorous approach to problem solving, using experiments and data analysis to drive quality of service improvements
• Willingness to go beyond your comfort zone and develop new skills across the full range of our stack
