[Remote] Freelance Software Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. AIM Sports Group is a technology platform powering athletes, coaches, and club directors across youth sports. They are seeking a Freelance Software Engineer to build and ship major platform releases, focusing on subscription and video features while ensuring performance and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship a major platform release this fall, spanning subscription and video features, on a fixed timeline
• Own the search-to-conversion funnel: player search, team search, athlete profiles, paywall, and checkout experience
• Build and maintain subscription billing: plans, plan changes, webhooks, and checkout flows
• Instrument conversion tracking and key events across the funnel (GA4, Stripe webhooks)
• Integrate and abstract third-party video and stats provider APIs so the platform is never coupled to a single vendor
• Contribute to athlete discovery and recruiting features on the roadmap
• Improve platform performance, reliability, and scalability, and contribute to API design and data architecture decisions

Skills

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in Laravel (PHP), our core stack
• Hands-on Stripe experience: subscription billing logic, webhooks, and checkout
• Demonstrated use of AI coding tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude, etc.) as a native part of your workflow
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL / PostgreSQL)
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-moving, async-first environment
• Able to start quickly and commit through a fall release cycle
• US-based
• Background in sports tech, competitive volleyball, consumer SaaS, or marketplaces
• Familiarity with sports data, video streaming, or athlete management platforms
• Experience with analytics instrumentation (GA4, event tracking)
• Experience working with small founding teams or early-stage products
