Property Facultative Underwriter Associate

Gen Re is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. that specializes in global reinsurance and related operations. They are seeking a Property Facultative Underwriter Associate to work in their Atlanta office, where the role involves assessing individual risk, negotiating terms with clients, and building lasting relationships through marketing efforts.

Responsibilities

• Underwriters work with our clients (i.e. insurance companies) in assessing individual risk and related volatility, by utilizing data research and rating models
• Underwriters negotiate the transfer of risk, pricing, and terms & conditions directly with the client
• Underwriters are provided with the opportunity to travel and meet face-to-face with clients
• Marketing efforts include a variety of touch points, including client entertainment, industry events, meetings/presentations, and written communication

Skills

• Bilingual in Spanish and English; must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong client/marketing presentation
• Strong organizational ability and attention to detail
• Demonstrate ability to work independently and deal effectively with multiple tasks/priorities
• Prior intern or work-related industry experience
• Solid software skills
• Strong team player, with the ability to collaborate effectively across various internal business units
• Strong critical thinking skills and intellectual curiosity
• Marketing and travel required: 30-50%
• College degree
