Senior Policy & Project Officer - Intellectual Property

Full Time, 35 hours per week Temporary role for 12 months Location: Willing to consider candidates across all NSW locations. Preference will be given to candidates based regionally, with a focus on Queanbeyan, Armidale, Dubbo and Coffs Harbour Clerk Grade 9/10 – Salary from $129,464 up to $142,665 per annum (FTE) plus super and leave loading

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Policy & Project Officer to deliver strategic advice, policy analysis, and project support across a diverse portfolio of intellectual property, commercialisation, and contract initiatives. In this role, you will guide senior executive decision-making on complex IP, licensing, and equity matters while proactively monitoring economic, industry, and agricultural trends to mitigate risks and protect the Department's interests. A highly collaborative professional, you will build strong partnerships across government, research institutions, and industry to ensure commercially sound outcomes, while actively contributing to strategic plans, governance frameworks, and systems that optimise asset management aligned with NSW Government priorities. About You As our ideal candidate, you will have: Tertiary degree or qualification in Law, public policy, Intellectual Property , business, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Proven track record in project and program management within complex government, research, or commercial sectors. Strong understanding of IP, commercialisation, and contract frameworks, ideally in agriculture or innovation. Excellent written and verbal skills, with a focus on writing high-quality executive briefs and reports. Demonstrated ability to dissect complex data to deliver practical, evidence-based solutions. Exceptional relationship management skills with a proven ability to influence and collaborate. Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.
