This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree along with a minimum of one year of relevant experience in medical billing. Work Environment

This role is fully remote, allowing flexibility in your work setting while maintaining a consistent 40-hour work week from Monday to Friday. Key Responsibilities

In your role as a Medical Billing Specialist, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Submitting medical claims to various insurance providers, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Engaging directly with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients to resolve claim processing issues and obtain timely payments.
  • Reviewing and appealing denied or unpaid claims, employing problem-solving skills to navigate administrative challenges effectively.
  • Processing refund requests for both patients and insurers in a timely manner while accurately posting all payments or denials.
  • Utilizing coding data to produce and submit claims and utilizing our electronic medical record systems, including eCW.
  • Keeping abreast of billing rules and trends by participating in relevant training and workshops.
  • Assisting patients with verifying insurance benefits and guiding them through the application for charity or Medicaid programs.
  • Ensuring that department goals regarding claims follow-up and processing timelines are consistently met.
  • Maintaining accurate billing records and spreadsheets, updating our billing software with any rate changes, and monitoring collection accounts.

Patient Population / Client Focus At Ideal Option, you will primarily engage with patients dealing with substance use disorders and their families, providing needed assistance regarding their insurance processes. Your role directly impacts their access to care by ensuring that they receive the necessary services that can lead to recovery. By managing billing and claims meticulously, you contribute to the financial sustainability of our clinics, enabling them to focus on delivering high-quality treatment.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required.
  • A minimum of one year of direct experience in medical billing is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with medical billing software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to patients and insurance providers.

Preferred Experience While not mandatory, having knowledge of the healthcare system, specifically in relation to substance use treatment, will be advantageous. An understanding of chemical dependency and its impact on individuals and families can enhance your effectiveness in this role. Additionally, experience with various payer portals and electronic billing processes will be beneficial.
