The tutor will provide one-on-one and small-group virtual instruction in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and related tools), focusing on both foundational skills and more advanced features based on learner needs. Day-to-day tasks include assessing learner skill levels, planning customized lesson plans, delivering live online sessions, and providing clear explanations, demonstrations, and practice activities. The tutor will create and share supporting resources (such as step-by-step guides, sample files, and exercises), track learner progress, and adjust teaching strategies to improve understanding and retention. The role also involves communicating regularly with Dr. Marks and, when appropriate, with learners or stakeholders to align on goals, schedules, and progress.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with the ability to teach both basic and advanced features.
  • Experience in tutoring, teaching, or training adults or students in software applications, preferably in a virtual or online learning environment.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in simple, accessible language.
  • Solid organizational and time-management skills, including preparing lesson plans, managing multiple learners, and maintaining accurate records of sessions.
  • Comfort with online meeting platforms and digital collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams, screen-sharing, and digital whiteboards).
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a learner-centered approach, with the ability to adapt teaching style to different learning speeds and backgrounds.
  • Previous experience in education, training, coaching, or a related field is preferred; relevant certifications in Microsoft Office or training are a plus.
  • Reliable internet connection and suitable remote work setup to conduct professional, interruption-free virtual sessions.
