Duties

  • Manage and monitor system infrastructure including operating systems such as Linux, and UNIX to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot RAID controllers, storage solutions, and virtualization platforms like VMware and ESXi to support high availability and data integrity.
  • Design, implement, and support scalable system architectures utilizing Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), microservices, and solution architecture principles.
  • Administer databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, ensuring data security, backup strategies, and performance tuning.
  • Develop automation scripts using Bash (Unix shell), Python, PowerShell, or Shell Scripting to streamline system management tasks.
  • Implement network security measures such as firewalls, VPNs, DNS configurations, load balancing solutions, and intrusion detection systems to safeguard information assets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies to develop CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, Git, Docker containers orchestrated by Kubernetes DevOps for rapid deployment cycles.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system design diagrams, API integrations (RESTful APIs), system architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Monitor system health using tools like Nagios or Zabbix; perform regular updates and patches to operating systems and applications to ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Support cloud infrastructure deployments on AWS or Azure while managing virtualization environments with VMware or Hyper-V for flexible resource allocation.

Experience

  • Proven experience in system administration across diverse operating systems including Windows Server, Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS), and UNIX variants.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure components such as DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP networking protocols, load balancing techniques, and computer networking fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with RAID controller configuration and management for enterprise storage solutions.
  • Familiarity with modern DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines utilizing Github CI/CD tools; scripting expertise in Bash or Python is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to design scalable system architectures employing microservices frameworks like Kubernetes or Docker Swarm within cloud environments such as AWS.
  • Experience working with databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL; understanding of database tuning and replication strategies is preferred.
  • Knowledge of information security best practices including firewall configuration (Cisco ASA or Palo Alto), VPN setup (IPSec), encryption standards (SSL/TLS), and vulnerability management.
  • Background in solution architecture development for enterprise applications using RESTful APIs;
  • Ability to work within Agile teams implementing SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) methodologies; experience with JIRA or similar project management tools is advantageous.
