Human Resources (HR) Coordinator

Part-time Description The Nurse Practitioner Group (NPG) is a provider-led, mission-driven healthcare staffing organization delivering clinical excellence in support of government and commercial clients nationwide. With a focus on compliance, operational efficiency, and employee development, NPG serves as a trusted partner across sectors such as veteran healthcare, occupational health, telehealth, and disaster response Position Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented HR Leader to lead the day-to-day and strategic HR operations across a multi-state healthcare workforce. This individual will oversee HR compliance, employee onboarding/offboarding, benefits administration, and process optimization while supporting a diverse and geographically dispersed employee base. The HR Coordinator will also be responsible for coordinating with brokers, vendors, and internal leadership to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee HR inquiries related to payroll, benefits, compliance, and workers' compensation.
  • Manage onboarding processes through Paylocity, ensuring completion of staff and employer tasks within 10 days of hire.
  • Communicate with the Talent Acquisition team on candidate readiness, interview progress, and offer escalations.
  • Ensure compliance with state-specific labor laws and track changes across NPG’s operational footprint.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date personnel records in Paylocity and external systems (e.g., Employee Navigator, John Hancock).

Weekly Responsibilities:

  • Audit compliance documentation and maintain the NPG Compliance Tracker.
  • Respond to and manage employee relations issues in collaboration with NPG leadership.
  • Coordinate with the benefits brokerage firm for benefit changes, enrollments, and issue resolution.
  • Submit biweekly workers' compensation reporting and follow up on active claims.
  • Participate in standing weekly TAT, HR, and compliance meetings, as scheduled/directed.
  • Availability of PT, 16-24 hours/week, very flexible scheduling.

Monthly & Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Conduct monthly audits of benefit invoices to ensure accuracy and removal of ineligible or terminated employees.
  • Ensure all terminated employees are removed from HR systems and benefit plans within 48 hours of termination.
  • Maintain real-time entry of terminations in Paylocity to support accurate turnover reporting.
  • Partner with vendors to track workers’ comp audits, update clinic address changes, and confirm pay-as-you-go accuracy.
  • Review and update the Employee Handbook based on federal and state-specific labor law changes.
  • Track compliance deadlines including ACA, EEO-1, and other required filings.
  • Generate and share monthly HR metrics (onboarding TAT, benefit participation, claims, retention, etc.) with leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Training & Development on training needs related to compliance and employee development.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; PHR/SPHR preferred.
  • 3–5 years of HR experience, preferably in healthcare or a multi-state organization.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, preferably Paylocity.
  • Experience managing employee benefits and working with third-party brokers.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state labor laws, particularly California, NY, NJ, FL, and MD.
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
